The Darkness in his Heart

Goldenfire was unsure if she should flee or not. She was in a cave, and outside was another dragon. Greenheart. She decides to flee. Counting to three, she bolts out of the cave, past the dragon. Fortunately the male doesn't notice her. She leaps into a bush, still in sight of the cave. He walks into the cave, unaware that his target has already passed. After a bit, she hears a thud. She decides to go out and see what had happened.

She approaches the entrance to the small cave. She sees Greenheart's body laying in the back of the cave. She is not sure if he is dead, or what. She walks up to him. Then she notices his skin color is rippling, becoming darker. Soon enough his colors have drained, and he is black. She looks at his face. Then his eyes open. They are no longer orange. They are a blood red.

This was not her mate. This was a creature of darkness, a malevolent spirit lead by hatred and distrust. It raised its head, looked at Goldenfire with spite. It drew its lips back in a snarl. Goldenfire backed up, terrified. Instead of staying there, she scrambled to flee. She did not want to be anywhere near the beast... or interact with it.
